However, Articles 4, paragraph 1, and 16 of the law of July 20, 2023, on compulsory schooling currently provide that compulsory schooling extends from the age of 4 until the age of 16.

Note: Changes to the duration of compulsory schooling are planned by the law of July 20, 2023, effective from September 1, 2026. Indeed, the duration of compulsory schooling will be extended so that compulsory schooling will last until the age of 18.

Starting September 1, 2026, and in accordance with Articles 4, paragraph 2, and 16 of the law of July 20, 2023, on compulsory schooling, compulsory schooling will begin for minors from the age of 4 years completed before September 1 and will end on the September 1 following the minor’s eighteenth birthday, meaning from age 4 to 18.
