D4b1 - What is to be understood by benefits in kind?

Definitions
In labour law, “benefits in kind” refer to all benefits provided by an employer to employees, whether or not they are offset by a deduction from the salary or are settled at a value significantly lower than the normal market price. 

Examples
Benefits in kind:

  • provision of food by the employer;
  • meal vouchers (restaurant tickets);
  • accommodation, whether or not free;
  • company car;
  • etc.
