Wages in cash
Wages stipulated as payable in cash are paid each month, no later than the last day of the relevant calendar month.
In cases of special, legitimate and urgent needs, an employee may secure advance payment of the proportion of his wages corresponding to the work performed by him.
Payments incidental to wages in cash
Payments incidental to wages in cash such as increments, discounts, gratuities, bonuses or others of the same nature are paid at the latest within the 2 months following either:
- the year of service; or
- the close of the commercial year; or
- determination of the results of that year.
It is to be noted that upon termination of the employment contract, the wage (cash wage and also payments incidental thereto) still owing must be paid at the end of the contract within a maximum of 5 days.
