D1b27 - In what circumstances can a fixed-term employment contract be concluded without a specified contractual period?

A fixed-term employment contract can be concluded without a specified contractual period in the following cases:

  • replacement of a temporarily absent employee;
  • employment of a seasonal nature;
  • posts for which in certain sectors of activity it is consistent practice not to have recourse to contracts of indeterminate duration.

In such cases, the contractual period will end when the absent employee ceases to be prevented from working or the purpose for which the contract was concluded has been achieved.
