Definitions

The following are to be regarded as pupils or students:

  • those aged from 15 to 27 years (up to the date of the 27th birthday);
  • those registered with a Luxembourg or foreign educational institution (a student duly registered with a foreign institution, whose holiday dates differ from those in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, may also be employed in Luxembourg under a student contract); and
  • who regularly attend a full-time teaching course.

Also regarded as students are persons whose academic registration or status as volunteer within the meaning of the Law of 31 October 2007 on voluntary service of young persons, as amended, ended less than 4 months earlier.

The employment of pupils and students must be remunerated, either in the service of private-sector or public-sector employers, during the school holidays.
