D4a4 - Who may claim the social minimum salary for skilled workers?

To be able to claim the social minimum wage for skilled workers:

  • an employee who is engaged in an occupation calling for a professional qualification usually acquired through education or training evidenced by an official certificate.

Definitions

The following are to be regarded as official certificates: certificates recognised by the Luxembourg State which are at least of the level of the Technical and Vocational Aptitude Certificate (CATP) or the Vocational Aptitude Diploma (DAP) obtained via technical secondary education.

  • the holder of a Certificate of Manual Skills (CCM) or a Vocational Capacity Certificate (CCP) evidencing practical experience of at least 2 years in the trade in which the certificate was issued.
  • the holder of a Certificate of Technical and Professional Initiation (CITP) evidencing practical experience of a least 5 years in the trade in which the certificate was issued.
  • in the absence of a certificate, an employee who proves minimum professional experience of 10 years in a particular trade.
  • in occupations in which training is not evidenced by an official certificate, the employee may be regarded as a skilled employee where he has acquired practical training for at least 6 years in a trade in which progressively increasing technical capability is required.
