In principle, the maximum working hours may not exceed:
- 10 hours a day; and
- 48 hours a week.
Under a Grand-Ducal Regulation (which does not to date exist) it will be possible to determine a limited number of sectors, branches or professions in which the applicable collective work agreement, failing which, the Minister of Labour may authorise:
- a maximum period of 12 hours, provided however that the actual weekly working time does not exceed 40 hours.
That Grand-Ducal Regulation will determine the conditions and arrangements whereby the collective agreement or, failing such an agreement, the Minister may authorise working time of 12 hours per day. It may in particular provide that such authorisation is to be limited in time or limited to certain periods of the year.
