  • split parental leave: a reduction in the number of working hours at a rate of one day of work per week (or 20% of the working hours) over a 20-month period

  • parental leave, split over four one-month periods for a maximum period of 20 months

Leave for family reasons

  • Parents of one child or more under 18 years old

  • For children who receive special disability benefits, the duration of leave for family reasons is doubled for each age range
  • 12 days per child aged between 0 and up to 4 years old

  • 18 days per child aged between 4 years old and up to the day before their 13th birthday

  • 5 days per child from their 13th birthday up to 18 years old, but only in the event that the child is admitted to hospital

  • a maximum of 52 weeks in any 104-week period in the event that the child has an extremely severe illness

Political leave

  • People serving a term of office as mayor, alderman, or communal councillor

  • People serving a term of office as deputy (a member of parliament)
  •  between 2 and 30 hours per week

  • 20 hours (maximum)

Leave for youth workers

Employees

60 days, with a maximum of 20 days in any 2-year period

Sports leave

  • Elite athletes, support staff, judges and referees,

  • Technical and administrative managers
  • 12 days per year and per beneficiary

  • For managers: 25 days per year and per body to which they are affiliated

"Development cooperation" leave

Experts and representatives of non-government organisations that are still carrying out another professional activity

An employee who is carrying out a mandate as a member of a professional chamber or a social security body or institution, as an assessor with the Labour Tribunal, or as an assessor-insured or an assessor-employer for the Arbitration Tribunal/Higher Social Security Tribunal

Family hospice leave for nursing a
terminally ill person

An employee whose parent (1st degree relative in a direct ascendant/descendant line or 2nd degree relative in a collateral line), spouse or partner is in the terminal phase of a severe illness, can request family hospice leave
