D6a18 - Is an employee entitled to special leave in order to visit his doctor during working hours?

The law does not provide for any special leave for medical examinations.

However, certain collective agreements exist which grant special leave or an absence from service authorised for a medical examination.

In the absence of special leave, the employee must request authorisation from his employer to be absent from his workplace in order to visit his doctor during working hours.

Nota Bene

An employer is not obliged to consent to release from work for a medical examination and may require the employee to arrange his medical appointments outside working hours.
